Fil d'or cheese has a high salt content. It must be desalted before consumption.
Traditionally, in the Middle East, cheese (chilal, msanara, fils d'or, etc.) is prepared at home in spring in very large quantities and is stored in brine in jars of very salty water for optimal conservation throughout the year.
Preparation:
Soak a quantity of golden thread cheese in a bowl of lukewarm water for about five minutes.
Drain when the desired degree of salt is reached. Taste.
